B is for Bokeh

Obviously, I wasn't able to post yesterday, but I don't want to miss out on the ABC Wednesday!!  This week is the letter B, so I am choosing Bokeh.

In photography, the word bokeh is used to describe the blurred portion of the photo.  Remember last week when we learned that Aperture produces a difference in Depth of Field?  Bokeh is the term we use for the area of the photo that is out of focus.

Here are some examples from my own photography.  Sometimes the bokeh is supposed to be pleasing to the eye, and sometimes there's something important going on there.  :)

I would really like to get better at finding opportunities for beautiful bokeh in my photographs.

I like how you can see the silo in the background if you look closely.

Some of my favorite bokeh - Christmas lights!

If you'd like to see more, I posted this one for Friday My Town Shoot Out a couple weeks ago:  The Letter B!

didn't know there was a word for that! I thought it was "the blurry area".
